"How to Practice Exercise"
60Every year millions of people set their New Year’s resolution toward a weight loss program. You tell your-self last year was a struggle, but I promise I am going to do better this year. We go out and buy the cloths to suite our work out, and then there are the purchases where we pour hundreds of dollars into equipment, work out videos, trainers, gyms, healthy foods, and so on. We even go to the extent to have surgery. Why, why, and why do we do this. When people think of the New Year they think of change, and they want the next year to definitely be better than the year before. So, one of the biggest goals so many of aim at, is weight loss. Well, I am here to help motivate you, and provide you with a little guidance as to how to get there. Together we can work through this challenge and hopefully in the end lose enough weight to be right where we want to be.
Tip#1: Don’t waste your money on the gym clothes.
It is okay to want to get in the spirit and buy you a work out outfit, but that is all it should be is only one. I’m pretty sure a lot of us have old jogging pants, old jeans, old shorts, or just something old we use to work out in. Also, I would recommend buying a good pair of shoes, because it helps to support your legs and your back.
Tip#2: Buy 2 DVDs for a starter, some small weights, a gym membership, and find a local park near you”:
A DVD is great to have around the house just in case you can not make it to the gym or maybe it is raining during your normal exercise schedule. I would not recommend you go out and buy every DVD you can find, because you are not going to use them all, trust me. Some cool DVDs I purchase was “Hip Hop Abs.” Shaun is the instructor and he is a wonderful trainer. With this particular DVD, we dance to different music, but it was also exercise. If you can I would definitely recommend this one, and he has even made more DVDs since I purchased mines about 2 years ago. Now with your small weights, you would want to purchase some that will snap across your ankle, or maybe the kind you can hold in your hands. I would not recommend you get them any heavier than 5lb if you are a newbie. What the weights do is they make you burn more calories, and help you work harder. A gym membership is always good to have too. You get the chance to meet new people; they also have different classes to attend and a variety of different equipment. Last, but now least you have the out of style local parks as I like to call it. Simply, walking is wonderful to do. The reason I say that is when you walk, you work everything in your body. I usually walk 3 miles and it takes an hour, but I am a newbie. For someone who is more experience than me, it may take her 30 to 45 minutes.
Tip#3: Eat simple foods you are use to, but CUT back!!
Many of think we have to purchase the weight watchers, Jennie Craig, get on the Oprah diet, the celebrity diet, a slim fast diet and etc. Truth be told, you do not have to. I have seen a dietician a total of 20 times within the last 5 years, and when we meet we discuss my meal plan. I am obedient most of the time to follow that plan, and for some us this is going to be hard. I’m not saying go spend money on a dietician, but it would not hurt. The secret my dietician told me is to eat like I normally eat, but cut back. So, for example, I would eat a sausage biscuit sandwich instead of a McGriddle for breakfast, or I would bake chicken thigh instead of eating a fried chicken thigh for dinner, or I may drink a diet coke instead of a regular coke with my meals. Do you think this would be simply enough for you. Here is my meal plan to show you how simply it was for me.
Morning: 1oz meat…..3 to 4 carbohydrates……1 fat
Morning snack: 1 carbohydrate
Lunch: 3oz meat……4 carbohydrates…..1fat
Lunch snack: 1 carbohydrate
Dinner: 3-4oz meat……4 carbohydrates…..1 fat
Dinner snack: 1 carbohydrate……..1oz meat
This work for me, and I kept at it for 6 months and lost 45 pounds. I did this meal plan without any exercise.
Tip#4: Weight loss surgery
I have so many people who work with me, who have had this surgery. For some it worked and they look good, but others I think it was hard for them to maintain that weight loss. My own opinion is this should be your very last option. I am not against it, but I am a true believer that hard work pays off. Even if you get the surgery all of my tips I mention here are great starters to keep the weight off, because surgery alone will not do it for you.
So, I want to thank you for reading my article, and if you did not learn anything from me, remember this: start your New Year off right. Your goal may not be to lose weight, but maybe you want to be healthier. What-ever your goal is you can do it, because together we can work through this challenge and hopefully in the end lose enough weight to be right where we want to be.
